We warn about scam messages sent via SMS in the name of A-Katsastus and Ajovarma. The SMS messages claim that the recipient has a delayed periodic vehicle inspection and urge them to book an appointment through the link in the message, or that a parking fee has not been paid and should be paid. These are phishing messages attempting to get the user to click on the link in the message and hand over bank credentials to criminals.

General tips regarding scam messages:

  1. Do not click on links in emails or SMS unless you are sure they are safe.
  2. Do not access services via links or search engine results; instead, type the website address in full in the address bar. The most common addresses you use should be saved in the browser’s favorites or bookmarks.
  3. If you have mistakenly provided your credit card information or online banking credentials through a scam message, you may have fallen victim to fraud. First, contact your bank and then file a police report. Attempts at fraud should also be reported.
